Through our tutorials we hope that we can teach "mere mortals" to fish!

Watching other people's tutorials, I see many which teach one specific effect or technique.
They try to squeeze in as much information as possible in as short a time as possible, making it impossible for a mere mortal, like myself, to follow the actions on the screen or to follow along with the verbal instructions..
They also seem to take it for granted that the viewer already is quite familiar with the software and know all the basic functions.

I firmly believe that a good tutorial should also help you understand why you are doing things and what happens when you do those things.
In that way you will have the possibility of learning to use the application ceatively and soon produce your own unique creations.

I am a great believer in the old Chinese proverb:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a one-day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime!

I tend to paraphrase it and say:
Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day.
Teach him to fish and he can feed himself for the rest of his life.

The Fine Art of Crawling

I also believe that before you try and run you should learn to walk and before you try to walk you should learn to crawl.
I know, from my own experience, that wanting to run as soon as possible is part of human nature. I have tripped and fallen quite a few times when I tried to run too soon.
I finally learned my lesson and prefer to admit that I am a mere mortal, that I am basically pretty stupid and that I need to do a lot of crawling before I even try to stand up in any application.

Gaijin-Eyes tutorials will take you crawling to a lot of interesting places and corners in the applications we will be describing, before we even try to help you stand up and begin walking around in them. Before you begin to run you will have to put in a lot of time practising on your own.

We hope that this site and our tutorials will help you, as a mere mortal, to be able to use many applications efficiently, in a creative way, by progressing from crawling to walking to running!

Finally, we also hope that the videos we have created and posted on the site will be both informative and entertaining!
